What is Cerakote?
Cerakote is an industry leading ceramic-based thin-film coating. It is used to add a permanent layer of ceramic composite to the surface of a variety of materials for increased durability, protection and customization.
Will Cerakote cover up any defects or etching on the surface?
No, Cerakote is a thin coating. It is not meant to cover or hide defects. It is too thin to fill deep scratches or cover etched engravings.
What are the advantages of using Cerakote?
Cerakote enhances a number of physical performance properties such as improving wear resistance, providing corrosion, chemical and abrasion resistance, increase impact strength and durability. It also acts as a lubricant, attracting less dirt, dust and other particles to your items cleaner and functioning optimally without adding any drag. It’s waterproof and protects against corrosion and oxidation. It is extremely heat resistant. It sticks well to a variety of surfaces metal, plastic, polymer, and wood. It is available in a variety of colors and patters, allowing for complete customization and even stenciling.
Can it be used to restore old items?
It won’t be able to smooth out dip pits or cover up defects, but an application of Cerakote can dramatically improve the appearance of tattered old items and it will stop any further deterioration.
What kind of stenciling or personalization options are available?
We do names, colors, personalized stencils, artwork and more. You are only limited by your own imagination.
How is payment handled?
Accepted methods of payment include credit card, debit card, PayPal, and ACH bank transfer. Return shipment will be upon confirmation of paid balance. Custom orders may require a deposit.
Is Grage Industries an FFL Manufacturer?
Yes, we have an FFL-07 Manufacturer license, which allows us to apply Cerakote to firearms. We don’t provide custom builds or gunsmith services, but are proud to partner with Wraith Precision for all your fire arms needs.
What materials can Cerakote be applied to?
Cerakote can be applied to metals, plastics, polymers and wood. It is commonly used on guns, knives, bows, and other weapons, bicycle parts, car parts, motorcycle parts, golf clubs and other sporting goods, cups, tumblers, mugs and more.
Will Cerakote chip or scratch?
Cerakote is strong. In fact, it outperforms every other thin-film ceramic coating in durability, hardness, scratch resistance, flexibility, and chemical resistance, but it can still be damaged if dropped on concrete or other abrasive materials.
What are the disadvantages of using Cerakote?
Cerakote requires hours of prep, application and cure time. It is not recommended as a DIY process, which means you should find a certified applicator. It adds a permanent ceramic layer that cannot easily be reversed.
What colors does Cerakote come in?
Cerakote is available in a wide variety of colors and finishes. We offer three of their coating series, which are available in eight to more than 100 colors. Plus, when you add in the different additives that are available, providing for even more color variation and customization, the possibilities and color options are truly endless.
How long does Cerakoting take?
The amount of time can vary based on a number of factors including the condition of the item, the size and amount of product, personalization and more. For an accurate timeframe, please contact Grage Industries with your project idea.
What is aftercare for Cerakoted products?
Most items can be cleaned with mild detergent and warm water. The biggest thing is to avoid harsh solvents and abrasive materials. Rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth is a preferred method for guns. Customized mugs that were dishwasher safe before can still safely be put in the dishwasher.
Can I drop off or ship my project?
Products can be shipped once deposit is made if needed. If you are shipping a firearm, it must be disassembled, and you should only ship the parts being treated. Grage Industries has now partnered with Wraith Percision. If you need your firearm disassembled or reassembled, they can help Local Lake Country customers, contact Grage Industries for drop off.

While we do have to include shipping charges, we ensure that you only pay the necessary amount to cover our costs. As shipping costs can vary significantly based on the destination and weight of the product, we calculate the bare minimum required for each individual order. This allows us to maintain fairness and pass on the most affordable rates to you.
